Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 July 2026
Anon Rooms is built to collect as little personal information as possible. This policy explains what we handle and for how long.
What we collect
When you join a room, we ask only for a name (the one your friends know you by) and your gender (male or female), which is used only to label crush results (e.g. "2 men, 1 woman"). We do not ask for your phone number, email, address, photos, or any government ID.
To stop the same person from joining a room multiple times under different nicknames, your browser stores a random device identifier (a random code, not linked to your name or any personal detail). We only ever store a one-way scrambled version of it, and it is deleted along with the room. We do not track your IP address for advertising, and we do not sell your data.
How long we keep it
Rooms are temporary. A room and all of its data — names, chat messages, crush votes and results — are permanently deleted about one hour after the room is created. Your real name is never shown to other players; everyone sees a randomly assigned nickname instead.
Reports are the exception (kept for safety)
If someone reports a message, we retain that report — including the reported message, the reason, and the names involved — beyond the one-hour window, so we can review abuse, keep people safe, and act on repeat offenders. This is the only data we keep long-term, and we keep it strictly for safety and moderation.
Payments
If you buy one of the optional extras, the payment is handled entirely by Razorpay (for buyers in India) or Lemon Squeezy (everywhere else). They collect and process your payment details under their own privacy policies. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details. All we keep is a flag saying the purchase succeeded and the provider's order reference, and that is deleted with the room.
Ads and cookies
Ads pay for Anon Rooms. They are served by a third-party ad network (currently Adsterra), whose scripts run in your browser and may set their own cookies or device identifiers to choose and measure ads. We do not share your name, gender, chat messages or crush votes with them — they never receive that data. Buying Remove ads stops those scripts from loading for you entirely.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits, so we can see how many people use Anon Rooms and which pages they land on. It sets its own cookies. It is told which page you opened, but never your room code — every room is reported to Google as an anonymous “/r/[code]”. Your name, gender, chat messages and crush votes are never sent to Google.
What is stored on your device
Your browser keeps a small amount of data so the app works: a private rejoin token (so a refresh puts you back as the same person), the random device identifier described above, and which ad network you were shown this visit. None of it identifies you to anyone, and you can clear it by clearing your browser storage.
Age
Anon Rooms is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has used the service, contact us and we will remove any related data.
